How many of us are using Skype today? I use it on a daily basis at work to communicate to other employees in the same office or even in other countries. We use it for meetings and to send files quickly. Skype makes the world very small. It is also nice to see that they have grown a lot this last year.
In a report released by TeleGeography it shows that Skype’s share of international calling minutes has increased to 12% which is a 50% increase from the year before.
According to the report they still have the top spot as the largest provider of cross-border communications in the world. Skype-to-Skype international calling minutes grew by 21 billion in 2009, an acceleration of almost 100%.
After attacks on Google as well as other companies mainly targeting Chinese human rights activists, Google announced in a blog post Tuesday afternoon that they the decided to stop filtering results on google.cn, and in the next few weeks Google will be discussing options on running an unfiltered search engine in China and still stay within the law. This might mean that they will have to shut down google.cn and their offices in China.
Google launched a product called Fast Flip, which is a service that makes reading articles online quick and easy. It is only running for three months so it is still in Google Labs. They have user friendly filters that you can use to see news and articles that you are interested in. The nice thing that I like about Fast Flip is that it gives you the ability to view a lot of articles at once, you can then just select the ones that you are interested in to read further. Visit http://fastflip.googlelabs.com/ to give it a go.
